Muzeon Park of Arts
Muzeon Park of Arts today is one of the largest museums of sculpture in the open air in Moscow, Russia. In the park's collection are unique monuments of the Soviet era, they are the monumental sculptures of the 1930s - 1950s but have been placed in the park since 1992 as that was the year when the Muzeon was opened.
Also, in the collection of Muzeon you will see interesting monuments of Socialist Realism, numerous busts of Heroes of Socialist Labor, the traditional portraits of Soviet leaders, required to be installed in every Soviet institution. One of the park's/museum's tasks has always been the preservation of these unique monuments. All of the pieces have not only artistic value, which can be controversial, but the historical value, they are artifacts of his epochs. In this regard, one of the museum's goals is the conservation of the monuments and the scientific descriptions of each art work. Today Muzeon actively exhibits contemporary artists, expanding the boundaries of the collection and adding exhibitions of modern art objects as well as video art materials. Muzeon is actively creating a platform for dialogue between all kinds of contemporary arts, with particular attention to young artists, sculptors and architects, yet cherishes the heritage and tradition of distinguished artists. The park has been accumulating monuments for over 20 years, and today its collection comprises more than 700 sculptures, including some notable pieces by Vera Mukhina, Ivan Shadr, Yevgeny Vuchetich, Yevgeny Chubarov. |
