Moscow Planetarium
Moscow Planetarium is one of the greatest places to visit when you are in Moscow. This planetarium was founded 88 years ago and initially it was an astronomy center (during the Soviet times, 1929) and it worked as a training base for polar pilots. In the 1960s, the planetarium was opened as a space museum and was also used to train Russians cosmonauts until 1994. In 1994, the planetarium was closed due to bad conditions that it was in after which the building was abandoned for 17 years and then reopened on June 12, 2011 following reconstruction. The long and expensive renovation of this historic planetarium has displayed stunning results and now, it is a modern as well as a well equipped Planetarium.
In the planetarium you will find a Sky Park with an observatory, Urania museum, a Lunarium (Moon hall), 4D movie theatre, a small star hall and a large star hall in which you will see the big show. At the planetarium you will learn about space, telescopes, satellites, gravity and other phenomenons of science by taking part in hands-on exhibits that are very well explained in many languages and are simultaneously fun and educational. As you may or may not know, Russia has been quite famous for its achievements connected to space and for its well-known cosmonauts (like Yuri Gagarin- First man in space) and I think that visiting the planetarium in Moscow, would be a great choice if you want to leatn more about space. Not only do I think so, but according to many reviews, planetarium has been a very popular place to visit by tourists and they can assure that everyone will find or learn something fascinating in there. Fun and educational, enjoyable for your entire family! |
