The Old Moscow Circus
The Old Moscow Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard is one of the oldest circuses in Russia. The former rider and gymnast Albert Salamonski established the permanent brick building for the circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard in Moscow in 1880. On the 20th of October 1880 the circus was opened with five rows of seats, box seats, a dress circle, wooden unnumbered benches and a standing gallery . In 1884, brick stalls were built and, in 1889 a swimming pool was added. Albert Salamonski, himself a remarkable rider, found and attracted to the circus the best horse acts as well as other phenomenal acts from all over the world. At that time the circus began to expand its repertoire with elaborate pantomimes and special performances for children. (The Old Moscow Circus, 2016).
You can find the different shows and tickets to them on the main website or other ticket websites which I will link at the bottom of this article. You may at first feel confused as all the shows are written in Russian but do not worry, during the actual show, very little language is going to be used as most of the times the performances are pure art. There is a number of different animals used with which you can take pictures before or after the show as well. However, filming and taking pictures during the performances is strictly forbidden. Circus in Moscow is nothing like circuses in other countries. I feel that Russian Circus took the shows and performances to next level setting high standards. In the circus you will see animals, clowns, magicians, acrobats and more. The performance will bring you and your family many positive emotions and a very memorable experience! |
