Tsaritsyno Park
The museum-reserve Tsaritsyno is located in the south of Moscow and includes an architectural complex of the late 18th century, Greenhouses, Historical Landscaped Park with ponds and new park zones with Light dynamic fountain. The territory covers 405 hectares.The palace complex created as a suburb residence of the Empress Catherine II. It was designed and built by the architect Vasily Bazhenov. Later the new Grand Palace by Matvey Kazakov became the center of composition. The buildings were not completed. After the Empress’s death work stopped. (Tsaritsyno Park, 2017).
The Museum has an extensive exhibition activity. In 2014 started a project “Museum tours”. Within the project many Moscow and regional museums have a chance to introduce their collections and different activities in the historical park. Thus, you will be able to find a wide variety of guided tours, education and entertainment programs and other activities for adults and children which are offered in the Palaces, Greenhouses and outdoors. In summer time it’s possible to move across the central part of the territory by museum electric car. Visitors can hire a boat or catamaran on the ponds. There are areas of active recreation on the territory of the Museum-Reserve: ski trail, ice rink, climbing wall, dance floor. (Tsaritsyno, 2017). Tsaritsyno Park is one of the oldest landscaped parks in Russia and a simple must-see. |
