Oceanarium
The oceanarium has the the volume of 25 million liters of sea water, are more than 12,000 marine animals. It presents 80 aquariums with sea and freshwater, making the Oceanarium in Moscow the biggest oceanarium in Europe.
Currently the Oceanarium is inhabited by whales, killer whales, dolphins, beluga whales, walruses, South American sea lions, Baikal seals, sharks, octopuses, starfish, stingrays, moray eels, and various aquatic plants, sea anemones and corals, jellyfish, seahorses, crocodiles, turtles, crustaceans and a large number of marine and freshwater fish. Aquariums area includes an interactive children's area, touch-pool with starfish, stingrays and carp. In a large auditorium with 2.3 thousand places, daily shows are presented with three-dimensional projections, 5D-effects and performance of killer whales, beluga whales, dolphins and seals. In the aquarium you can find scientific and educational workshops and screenings of documentaries about the sea. In the Oceanarim there is a closed system of water treatment and microclimate. To start the aquarium took more than 700 tons of sea salt from Japan and Okhotsk seas. To maintain salinity monthly requires about 80 tons of salt. However, the large numbers are worth the fine life of the animals. Also, all animals undergo regular medical check-ups. The laboratory is equipped with modern appliances oceanarium, allows to carry out ultrasonic, radiographic, dental check-ups, as well as cytological and bacteriological tests. The Ocenarium has been divided into three zones: Aquariums area: 80 aquariums; water show area, and a pool for swimming with dolphins. |
